The invisible, what links us to others, to nature, to what is most profound in ourselves and to what lies beyond it. Flora seizes that reality in the private, in silent presences, in expanses, in suspended time. She seeks the movement of life in the looming up of images, in perturbance. Self-portraits, journeys – her approach is autobiographical, the only pathway to achieving and revealing a perceptible truth.

EXHIBIT AT RENCONTRES: LE GEL (ICE)

The exhibit Le gel reproduces the project carried out by Flora during an artist residency in the Gaspé in the winter of 2013. Besides being presented as part of Rencontres, Le gel is also one of the exhibits featured at the 10th edition of Promenades photographiques de Vendôme, in France.

Flora’s artistic research project in photography took place in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. “The exploration of an area, an intimate experience with a landscape, a fiction. In winter. The shadows of women, those who lived and live here, slip to the end of the empty wharves, among the trunks of dark forests, to the middle of deserted streets, among stretched white sheets, into the frames of narrow windows. Be silent, see the wind sweep the horizon, feel the ice resonate in oneself, be fascinated, and let it overwhelm me.”
