He seeks a meaning in different activities and different environments as he encounters them and which he finds to be enigmatic. That search for meaning leads him to look at every facet of places and people. His artistic practice also includes installation and painting. After earning a college diploma in photography in 2001, Sébastien Michaud continued his studies in visual art at Université du Québec à Montréal. He lives in Montreal, where his employment includes teaching art.

EXHIBIT PRESENTED AT THE RENCONTRES: “DOMAINE DE LA FLORIDA”

More than 2,500 kilometers from Florida, there’s a campground that’s a little odd: Camping Domaine de la Florida in Saint-Ambroise, in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region of Québec. The campsite has been expanding at a remarkable rate for the last few years. Its unique character? Providing its users with the sensation of being in Florida, an experience that includes scenery made up of fake palm trees, exotic street names and leisure activity recalling those that Québec tourists practice in wintertime down there. This series of photographs is a look at the ways, at the lifestyles of a generation that, in retirement, will redefine the notion of vacation, pleasure, community.
